Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
1. Introduction
Codex ("we", "us", "the service") is a browser based online IDE operated by Bluedot Technology Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains what limited information we collect, how your code is handled, and the choices you have. By using Codex you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information stored on your device
Codex is designed to run client side. Your project files, open tabs, editor settings, keyboard shortcuts, snapshots, terminal stdin history, and command palette state are saved to your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
3. Code execution
Web projects (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) execute locally inside a sandboxed iframe in your browser and never leave your machine. For other languages, the contents of your open project files and the stdin you provide are transmitted to the public Piston API for sandboxed execution, and the resulting stdout, stderr, and exit code are returned to your browser. Do not paste secrets, personal data, or proprietary code you are not authorized to share into the editor when running non web languages.
4. Analytics and logs
Our hosting provider may record standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not linked to a personal account, because Codex does not require sign in.
5. Cookies
Codex itself does not set tracking cookies. Embedded advertising, if shown, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
6. Advertising
The site may display advertisements from third party networks to support free access. Ad providers may collect data about your interactions with ads in accordance with their own privacy policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your ad network's preferences page.
7. Children's privacy
Codex is a general audience service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Your choices
Because Codex does not require an account, you control your data by managing your browser. Clearing site data removes all saved projects, snapshots, and settings. You can export your work at any time using Download .zip in the editor toolbar.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Codex after a change means you accept the updated policy.
